Do you still celebrate June 12 as Philippines independence as a Filipino?
As a Filipino myself, I do not consider June 12 as Philippines independence. Independence from what? We are still under the mantle of the US is it not? Dapat kasi our forefathers didn't ask for independence from the US in the first place. And even if we did maybe later just like Singapore from the British in 1952. The war just finish and we ask for immediate independence? We cannot organize a government from the ashes. We are granted the independence but with a clause or a catch from the bell trade act, the US fleet will remain in the Philippines, in Subic and Olongapo and the US will compensate by giving the Philippines monetary aid in exchange. Is this independence to you? The US government call the shots. Until now, without the istance of the US government baka napasok na rin tayo ng Chinese fleet and army. VFA is giving us istance on getting rid of the Abu Sayyaf which is already a 10 year issue na hindi pa rin natin ma-solve solve until now. We are the weakest link in Southeast Asia. Kaya kung ako I rather we became a US 53th States. We are better off being a US territory. Our WW2 veterans in the US would not beg for the compensation until now they haven't received after more than 60 years. Wala na sigurong ofw sa ibang bansa at tnt sa US. Kasi being a US territory all of us would benefit from it from our child to their childrens children. Right now, the poor children their children's children will also be poor in the long run. We are not totally free, do we? Do you feel we are? How? Ok bring out that Philippines flag and wave it in this coming June 12, hep hep hooray...
