Does it take long to learn to crochet?

its summer and there isnt much to do around the house so i was thinking of crocheting.. i tried knitting before but i gave up x( it was giving me too much stress teaching myself.. soo do you think i could learn to crochet by myself(buying crochet books... searching around google, watching videos and stuff)? if so, does it take a long time to learn and be really good at it?
