Padding for a beam?

i have a beam which is a 3-d plank of wood with a rollout of suede from stick it balance beams on top .my problem with it is that it is too hard to do any jumps or anything on it.to see what i am talking about go to www.stickitbalancebeam.com and click on diy raised beam (its the first one on that page)
