How was the Great Gatsby an influential book of its time?

It WASN'T... have you even READ IT? or is this just another of those stupid questions you people ask when you don't know sh*t and expect US to do your homework for you.... READ IT YOURSELF and then you will know, it could NEVER have been an influential book.. in it's time or otherwise.
