Severe thunderstorm protection?

Okay, so today, all of the weathermen on TV warned the people in my country about a thunderstorm which is to occur tomorrow afternoon. They said that we should stay at home, close all the windows and wait for it to p because they expect it to be really severe and the wind to be really strong. Also, they predicted a hail storm. I live on the ground floor of my building and I am really scared. I read about and know all the things I should do to be safe, but I am still worried. I want to know if its a good idea to hide under a table or is it better to stay in a small corridor with all the doors of the rooms closed? What else can I do to protect myself? I want to know the smallest little details because I am really worried and so is everyone in my city. Thanks!
