What would be a good alternative energy resource to debate on?

The oceans. For some reason people do not realize it yet, but since so many of our major cities are coastal, tidal power, floating wind generators, ocean thermal conversion, current driven turbines... all these could provide adequate energy for more than half the cities in America.
