Period not in sync with birth control?

i had an abortion the 17th of june..was told to start my birth control the following sunday,which i did..now according to my birth control pills i should start to the sugar pills today so that indcates my period should start today but it hasnt been a month since my last..just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? or should i be worried
